The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Erato Kozakou-Marcoullis, continued her contacts Wednesday, 26 September in New York in the framework of the UN General Assembly. The Minister of Foreign Affairs met with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Argentina, Mr Eduardo Zuain, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liechtenstein, Mrs Aurelia Frick. Dr Marcoullis briefed her two interlocutors on the current situation of the Cyprus issue. At the meeting with Mr Zuain the bilateral relations were reviewed, while the Cypriot Foreign Minister expressed the hope that Cyprus will have Argentina’s support in the Security Council when it will be elected for the period 2013-2014. With her counterpart from Liechtenstein, issues related to the European Union were discussed.
Dr Marcoullis also had a meeting with the US State Department’s Special Envoy and Coordinator for International Energy Affairs, Mr Carlos Pascual.
In the afternoon, the Minister of Foreign Affairs participated in the Ministerial meeting of the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East.
In the evening, Dr Marcoullis attended the inauguration of the new offices of the EU Representation in New York, which took place in the presence of the UN Secretary General, Mr Ban Ki-moon, and Presidents Barroso and Rompuy.
