Cyprus President Attends the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly, 20 September 2013
The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades will be visiting New York from 21 to 28 September 2013, to lead the Cyprus delegation during the High-level week of the UN General Assembly. The President upon his arrival will be accompanied by the First Lady Mrs. Andri Anastasiadou and the Government Spokesman Christos Stylianides. Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides will travel to New York separately on Sunday 22 September, having ahead of him a full week of bilateral meetings with counterparts from a wide range of countries as well as a number of ministerial activities of the EU28. Τhe Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the United Nations Ambassador Nicholas Emiliou and the Permanent Representative of Tuvalu to the United Nations Ambassador Afelee Falima Pita signed on 2 July 2013 a document establishing diplomatic relations between the Republic of Cyprus and Tuvalu. On this occasion the two Ambassadors expressed their satisfaction that two small island states, and Commonwealth members, strengthen their bilateral relations and friendly ties with the establishment of diplomatic relations. The Republic of Cyprus Signed the UN Arms Trade Treaty
The Permanent Representative Ambassador Nicholas Emiliou signed today (3 June 2013) on behalf of the Republic of Cyprus, the UN Arms Trade Treaty which opened today for signature at UN headquarters. The Treaty was signed today by a total of 63 UN member states.
The first Arms Trade Treaty was adopted by the UN General Assembly on 2 April 2013 and was considered a landmark historic achievement and the culmination of many years of efforts.
