Contacts of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in New York, 25 September 2013

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Ioannis Kasoulides, deposited, yesterday, to the United Nations, the instrument of ratification for Article 8 and the Crime of Aggression amendments to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Cyprus becomes the 11th State Party to ratify the amendments (Kampala Amendments to the Rome Statute).

Moreover, Minister Kasoulides held bilateral meetings with his counterparts from Montenegro and Libya. With his Montenegrin counterpart, Mr Igor Lukšiæ, the Minister Kasoulides discussed bilateral issues, as well as Montenegro’s EU accession process.

With his Libyan counterpart, Mr Mohamed Abdulaziz, he discussed ways for deepening bilateral cooperation and further strengthening trade and financial relations between Cyprus and Libya, with possible visits in Libya by Cypriot businesspeople and investors.

Mr Kasoulides also had a meeting with the editorial team of the Wall Street Journal, during which he briefed on the latest developments regarding the Cyprus problem and the current economic situation in Cyprus.

In the evening, he attended a reception hosted by the President of the European Council, Mr Herman Van Rompuy, the President of the European Commission, Mr Jose Manuel Barroso, and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Baroness Catherine Ashton, at the premises of the European Union, in New York.
