Ο Πρέσβυς Νικόλαος Αιμιλίου επέδωσε σήμερα ( 9.4.12) στον Γενικό Γραμματέα των ΗΕ Ban Ki-moon, τα διαπιστευτήρια του ως νέος Μόνιμος Αντιπρόσωπος της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στον Οργανισμό Ηνωμένων Εθνών. Ο κ. Αιμιλίου τα τελευταία τέσσερα χρόνια υπηρέτησε ως Γενικός Διευθυντής στο Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών της Δημοκρατίας ενώ προηγουμένως έχει υπηρετήσει, μεταξύ άλλων, ως Πρέσβυς στην Ιρλανδία και ως Μόνιμος Αντιπρόσωπος της Δημοκρατίας στην ΕΕ στις Βρυξέλλες και στο Συμβούλιο της Ευρώπης στο Στρασβούργο. Πρώτα να μου επιτρέψετε να πω λίγα λόγια για τη συνάντηση ως τέτοια. Γνωρίζετε πολύ καλά ότι στους δύο-δυόμισι μήνες που έχουν διαρρεύσει από τη πρώτη συνάντηση μέχρι τη δεύτερη συνάντηση, κατά τη δική μας την εκτίμηση, δεν δικαιολογείτο η πρόσκληση του Γενικού Γραμματέα νοουμένου ότι δεν είχε επιτευχθεί οποιαδήποτε πρόοδος.
