UN General Assembly approved funding for UNFICYP for the period 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013

The UN General Assembly on June 21 2012, adopted the annual budget of all peacekeeping operations including UNFICYP’s, for the period July 1 2012 –June 30, 2013. The total funding approved for all 14 UN peacekeeping operations amounted to 7 billion U.S. dollars while the financing of the peacekeeping force in Cyprus for the above period amounts to 56.97 million U.S. dollars. The General Assembly was acting on the recommendations of its Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary). [Read more…]

Η Γενική Συνέλευση ΗΕ ενέκρινε την χρηματοδότηση της Ειρηνευτικής Δύναμης στην Κύπρο για τη περίοδο Ιουνίου 2012- Ιουλίου 2013

Η Γενική Συνέλευση των Ηνωμένων Εθνών στις 21 Ιουνίου 2012, υιοθέτησε ομόφωνα τον ετήσιο προϋπολογισμό του συνόλου των ειρηνευτικών επιχειρήσεων του διεθνούς οργανισμού μεταξύ των οποίων και της UNFICYP για την χρονική περίοδο 1^η Ιουλίου 2012 – 30 Ιουνίου 2013. Η συνολική χρηματοδότηση που απαιτείται για 14 ειρηνευτικές επιχειρήσεις των ΗΕ ανέρχεται στο ποσό των 7 δις δολαρίων ενώ η χρηματοδότηση της ειρηνευτικής δύναμης στην Κύπρο για την πιο πάνω περίοδο ανέρχεται στο ποσό των 56.97 εκ. δολαρίων. Όλα τα ψηφίσματα των χρηματοδοτήσεων των ειρηνευτικών επιχειρήσεων περιλαμβάνονταν σε έκθεση που παρέπεμψε η 5^η Επιτροπή στη Γενική Συνέλευση ως αρμόδια Επιτροπή η οποία έχει την ευθύνη εξέτασης του προϋπολογισμού του διεθνούς οργανισμού. I would also like to extend the appreciation of my country Cyprus, to the UN system and services as well as to all national civil servants and experts involved in the road to Rio, for steering the path through a minefield of uncertainties. Ambassador Nicholas Emiliou presents credentials to the UN Secretary-General

On 9 April, Ambassador Nicholas Emiliou presented his credentials to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon as new Permanent Representative of the Republic of Cyprus to United Nations. Until his appointment, Mr. Emiliou was Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nicosia from August 2008. [Read more…]

Ο Πρέσβυς Νικόλαος Αιμιλίου επέδωσε σήμερα ( 9.4.12) στον Γενικό Γραμματέα των ΗΕ Ban Ki-moon, τα διαπιστευτήρια του ως νέος Μόνιμος Αντιπρόσωπος της Κυπριακής Δημοκρατίας στον Οργανισμό Ηνωμένων Εθνών. Ο κ. Αιμιλίου τα τελευταία τέσσερα χρόνια υπηρέτησε ως Γενικός Διευθυντής στο Υπουργείο Εξωτερικών της Δημοκρατίας ενώ προηγουμένως έχει υπηρετήσει, μεταξύ άλλων, ως Πρέσβυς στην Ιρλανδία και ως Μόνιμος Αντιπρόσωπος της Δημοκρατίας στην ΕΕ στις Βρυξέλλες και στο Συμβούλιο της Ευρώπης στο Στρασβούργο.
