I have the honour to speak on behalf of the EU and its Member States. The Acceding country Croatia*, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*, Montenegro*, Iceland** and Serbia*, the countries of the Stabilization and Association Process and potential candidate Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova and Georgia, align themselves with this statement.

UN General Assembly approved funding for UNFICYP for the period 1 July 2012 to 30 June 2013

The UN General Assembly on June 21 2012, adopted the annual budget of all peacekeeping operations including UNFICYP’s, for the period July 1 2012 –June 30, 2013.  The total funding approved for all 14 UN peacekeeping operations amounted to 7 billion U.S. dollars while the financing of the peacekeeping force in Cyprus for the above period amounts to 56.97 million U.S. dollars. The General Assembly was acting on the recommendations of its Fifth Committee (Administrative and Budgetary). [Read more…]
