Cyprus President Attends the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly, 20 September 2013

The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades will be visiting New York from 21 to 28 September 2013, to lead the Cyprus delegation during the High-level week of the UN General Assembly. The President upon his arrival will be accompanied by the First Lady Mrs. Andri Anastasiadou and the Government Spokesman Christos Stylianides. Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides will travel to New York separately on Sunday 22 September, having ahead of him a full week of bilateral meetings with counterparts from a wide range of countries as well as a number of  ministerial activities of the EU28.

During his visit to the UN, President Anastasiades will have, on Monday, 23 September afternoon, a private meeting with the UN Secretary General, his first one since his election to the Cyprus Presidency. On Thursday, 26 September in the morning he will address the 68th Session of the General Assembly and right after he will give a Press Conference to the UN correspondents. President Anastasiades will also address  the Special Event organized by the President of the General  Assembly to follow up the efforts made to achieve the Millennium Development Goals. On Monday, 23 September the President will host a working luncheon with the Five Permanent Members of the Security Council.

President Anastasiades will also hold a series of bilateral meetings with other Heads of State and Government and Foreign Ministers visiting the UN including the Deputy Prime Minister of Greece and the Russian and Chinese Foreign Ministers. On Friday, 27 September, Cyprus President will be travelling to Washington to meet US Vice President Joe Biden.

During his stay in New York, President Anastasiades will meet leaders of the Greek American and Cypriot Community, will attend a testimonial dinner on Wednesday 25 September and pay a visit to Archbishop Demetrios, leader of the Greek American Orthodox Church.

President Anastasiades will return to Cyprus on Saturday 28 September.
