Today, 4 March 2014, marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP).
The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Cyprus to the United Nations, would like to express, on behalf of the people and the Government of Cyprus, its gratitude and appreciation to the blue helmets in Cyprus for their huge contribution to the maintenance of peace and security on the island and their humanitarian role. We are also very grateful to all Member States that have contributed to the Force.
Special tribute is paid to the 184 peacekeepers that have lost their lives in the line of duty.
