I have the honour to inform you that your letter dated 24 December 2003 (S/2003/1214) concerning your decision to appoint Major General Herbert Joaquin Figoli Almandos (Uruguay) as the next Force Commander of the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) has been brought to the attention of the members of the Security Council.
