Δηλώσεις Υπουργού Εξωτερικών και Αντιπρόεδρου της Ελληνικής κυβέρνησης, Ευάγγελου Βενιζέλου μετά την τριμερή συνάντηση των υπουργών Εξωτερικών Κύπρου-Ελλάδας-Αιγύπτου
«Η τριμερής συνάντηση της Αιγύπτου, της Κύπρου και της Ελλάδας, ήταν η συνέχεια των επισκέψεων που είχαμε κάνει στο Κάιρο, και ο Κύπριος υπουργός Εξωτερικών ο κ. Κασουλίδης κι εγώ πριν από λίγες ημέρες. Η σημερινή συνάντηση στέλνει το μήνυμα πως είμαστε αποφασισμένοι να προωθήσουμε αυτή την τριμερή πολιτική συνεργασία, την οποία θα οργανώσουμε και σε επίπεδο υπουργικό, αλλά και σε επίπεδο υπηρεσιακό, με τους πολιτικούς διευθυντές των τριών υπουργείων. Σημασία έχει να λειτουργήσουμε μέσα στην περιοχή που μας ενδιαφέρει, την περιοχή της Μέσης Ανατολής και της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου, ως τρεις χώρες που ενδιαφέρονται για τη σταθερότητα, για την ειρήνη και για την ανάπτυξη. Άρα η πρωτοβουλία μας δε γίνεται σε αντίθεση με άλλες χώρες ή με άλλες πρωτοβουλίες, αλλά γίνεται συμπληρωματικά, προσθετικά. [Read more…]

Cyprus President Attends the 68th Session of the UN General Assembly, 20 September 2013

The President of the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades will be visiting New York from 21 to 28 September 2013, to lead the Cyprus delegation during the High-level week of the UN General Assembly. The President upon his arrival will be accompanied by the First Lady Mrs. Andri Anastasiadou and the Government Spokesman Christos Stylianides. Minister of Foreign Affairs Ioannis Kasoulides will travel to New York separately on Sunday 22 September, having ahead of him a full week of bilateral meetings with counterparts from a wide range of countries as well as a number of ministerial activities of the EU28. Open-ended Working Group on Ageing
The Fourth working session of the Open-ended Working Group on Ageing has started its work today at the United Nations Headquarters and will last until August 15, 2013 with main objective to strengthen the protection of the human rights of older persons. At the opening session, the Representative of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Stelios Makriyiannis, has been elected Vice-Chair of the Bureau of the working group. Mr. Makriyiannis will also moderate the Panel Discussion 2: Update on multilateral processes, which is going to be held on August 13.

Cyprus and Tuvalu establish diplomatic relations, 2 July 2013

Τhe Permanent Representative of Cyprus to the United Nations Ambassador Nicholas Emiliou and the Permanent Representative of Tuvalu to the United Nations Ambassador Afelee Falima Pita signed on 2 July 2013 a document establishing diplomatic relations between the Republic of Cyprus and Tuvalu. On this occasion the two Ambassadors expressed their satisfaction that two small island states, and Commonwealth members, strengthen their bilateral relations and friendly ties with the establishment of diplomatic relations.
